Barn Parc Cottage in the snow February 2009
The St Mabyn Community Shop is a real treasure. Only a short walk from the cottage, they do, in no particular order, fresh bread pasties and pastries, daily papers, curries and fresh meat to order, local Cornish produce, fresh vegetables as the usual grocery items. Their opening hours have been changed due to the pandemic so please check their website here. You can use a debit card to obtain cash at their Post Office Counter during Post Office hours. For a bigger shop there is a Tesco, Co-op, Aldi and Lidl in Wadebridge (4 miles) and Morrisons ASDA and Sainsbury in Bodmin (6 miles). Morrisons and ASDA probably sell the cheapest fuel in the area.
St Mabyn Inn The Inn is now under new ownership and has been completely refurbished. There is a new dining room that is proving very popular. It is only a few minutes walk from the cottage and good food and real ales are on offer.
In nearby St Kew, there is The St Kew Inn - A very popular XVth century inn that does excellent food. It also has alfresco eating in the garden in July and August. Many traditional features including log fires, slate floors and real ales from the wood. Also in the locality, we have had good reports about The Red Lion in St Kew Highway, The Malsters in Chapel Amble and The St Tudy Inn in St Tudy.
